Partial approval of the bill on registration fees and vehicle registration fees was decided by the Finance Committee of the Parliament.
Following reactions from specific professional groups to set road taxes based on emissions rather than horsepower, the Commission decided to take the plenary part of the bill on Thursday to approve only the registration fee.
The bill provides for the setting of an amount of 150 euros as a single registration fee, a regulation that is an obligation of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU.
The Finance Committee called on the Ministries of Transport and Finance to engage in dialogue with all affected groups and to reach an agreed approach within two months.
