According to the Police, at around 18.30 yesterday afternoon, the service officer of ADE Famagusta was informed by the intensive care unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia that a 17-year-old from Lebanon is being treated in an extremely critical condition.
Members of the TAE and the Famagusta Traffic Police started investigating the injuries of the young man and finally it was found that around 05 yesterday at dawn a 00-year-old from Lebanon, a visitor to Ayia Napa, was driving a moped at the Municipality, having a 17-year-old passenger as well. from Lebanon.
Under conditions investigated by the Police, the 17-year-old lost control of the moped, as a result of which he hit a pothole that was inside the road on the right side, according to his course, and then crashed into the sidewalks.
As a result of the accident, the two young men jumped off the motorcycle, fell on the asphalt and were injured. The two 17-year-olds were taken by ambulance to the General Hospital of Famagusta in Paralimni, where the driver of the motorcycle was fired after receiving first aid.
However, due to the criticality of his condition, the passenger was transported to the General Hospital of Nicosia where he underwent craniotomy and his condition is considered extremely critical by the treating doctors.
Police investigations revealed that both young men were not wearing protective helmets.
The causes of the accident are being investigated by the Famagusta Traffic Police.
