4,4% increase in tourism revenues in 2015

Revenues from tourism increased by 4,4% (€ 88,7 million) in 2015, compared to 2014, according to data released on Monday by the Statistical Service.

Specifically, tourism revenues for 2015 are estimated at € 2,11 billion (€ 2.112,1 million), compared to € 2,02 billion (€ 2.023,4 million) in 2014. Tourism revenues in 2014 they had decreased by 2,8%, after their increase by 8% in 2013.

It is noted that tourist arrivals in 2015 had increased by 8,9% compared to 2014.

Revenues from tourism in December 2015, based on the results of the Traveler Survey, amounted to € 52,6 million, compared to € 43,7 million in the corresponding month of 2014, recording a large increase of 20,4%.

The average length of stay was reduced
Moreover, according to the data, the average length of stay of tourists in December 2015 decreased to 11,4 days, compared to 12,2 days in December 2014.
In addition, by country of usual residence, Sweden had the longest average length of stay with 39,5 days, followed by tourists from Norway with 26,5 days and Finland with 16,2 days.

Per Capita and Per Day expenditure
Total Per Capita Expenditure decreased in December 2015 to € 671,25, compared to € 767,93 in December 2014. On the contrary, Total Per Day Expenditure decreased to € 59,04, from € 63,17.

Specifically, according to the data of the Statistical Service, the highest Per Capita expenditure was presented in December 2015 by tourists from Norway with € 1.231,58, followed by tourists from Sweden with € 1.230,56 and from Belgium with € 887,44, XNUMX.

The lowest per capita expenditure was presented by tourists from the Netherlands with € 217,63, from Greece with € 380,40 and from Israel with € 397,37.

Per day expense
The highest daily expenditure was recorded in December 2015 by tourists from Lebanon with € 136,74, from Belgium with € 131,86 and from Israel with € 121,15.

The lowest per day expenditure was presented by tourists from Sweden with € 31,14, from Greece with € 33,46 and from Finland with € 39,73.
