The leaders of the Atterbury group, based in South Africa, which bought the Shacola Mall [with the Mall, the IKEA building and Anex 3 and 4], the Engomi mall and a plot of land worth € 8 million met in Cyprus and talked about their plans.
Their goal, as they told reporters, is to set up internationally renowned stores in the Mall of Cyprus next year as part of its expansion.
However, Lucille Louw, CEO of the Group, did not disclose the name of the stores but went on to say that Cyprus has long sought to establish the brand in the country.
The Mall of Cyprus currently covers an area of 27.000 square meters (m2) and the Atterbury group will add an additional 7.000m2 to the new store, he underlined. The area also includes IKEA and additional land, which can be developed at a later stage.
Mr. Louw clarified that none of the existing tenants of the mall will have to leave his business, although a general reorganization of the mall premises may be sought.
Cyprus is a good investment opportunity as a number of reforms have taken place in the country since March 2013, he said. He even expressed optimism for finding a political solution for the reunification of the island, which, as he said, will create investment opportunities.
