Families of Cypriots and foreigners on the verge of starvation in Famagusta

The invisible charitable offer of the Holy Diocese of Constantia in Paralimni and the exclusive reports of its representative in "F", confirm the great livelihood problem faced by hundreds of families in free Famagusta, due to unemployment and the crisis…

In the Holy Diocese of Constantia, hundreds of families, divorced women, as well as unemployed or low-paid family heads, regularly come to receive charitable packages. The packages, according to a representative of the Diocese, contain milk for young children, spaghetti, rice and other basic necessities, so that the families that receive them avoid the possibility of falling into a state of hunger, especially their young children.

According to the Diocese of Constantia, our needy and hungry fellow human beings who receive these packages are both Cypriots and foreigners and unfortunately lately they are increasing, while with the closure of more than a hundred hotels in the area, in a few weeks the number is expected to increase.

"With more than eight thousand young unemployed, we realize that the needs will increase," said a representative of the Diocese, noting that the Diocese of Constantia, which is small and without strong financial resources, is doing everything possible to alleviate human suffering and especially not to be deprived of food and basic goods, families with young children and infants.

"Unemployment, the crisis, the big debts of previous years", are the main factors for this situation we are facing, said the representative of the Diocese of Constantia.

At the same time, the venerable priest who spoke to "F", revealed that in the difficult times that society has come to, the Diocese is consuming all its forces and available resources, providing scholarships, sponsorships to children whose parents due to financial difficulties, either they are unable to study or they should drop out.

The third area in which the Holy Diocese of Constantia offers charities is the field of health, subsidizing the treatment of our suffering fellow human beings, who in other circumstances would have remained or perhaps died helpless, due to lack of resources to provide the necessary medical assistance.

"We are doing what we can with the help of God and the resources we have," said the priest of the Diocese of Constantia, expressing his concern for the problems of this kind, which seem to be constantly increasing in society, reaching Cypriots. and foreigners. He also clarified that the Diocese applies this tactic and does not provide money to the perpetrators, so that it can be sure that "the food ends up where it should", because the money can be spent on cigarettes, alcohol, etc. Source: LIBERAL
