The beach was opened in the enclosed Famagusta, only for "citizens" of the pseudo-state and Turks

It opened on Saturday in the occupied areas for the first time - as announced - part of the beach of the enclosed area of Famagusta near the occupied beach of Deryneia.

According to Famagusta "mayor" Ismail Arter, this is the first time part of the fenced area has been opened since 1974 for civilians other than the military.

Only "citizens" of the pseudo-state and Turkish citizens have the right to enter the beach with their ID.

The beach, according to the Turkish Cypriot press, is 240 meters long, has 240 beds and a buffet for food. According to the "protocol" signed by the "municipality" with the occupying forces, which will be automatically renewed every year, the beach in question will be operated by the "municipality" between May 15 and October 29, from 8 am until 10 at night.

It is emphasized that the entrance of the public is controlled and the presentation of identity is needed. Only "citizens" of the pseudo-state and citizens of Turkey are allowed to enter.

The beach of Deryneia, as the beach that opened on Saturday is called, is within the area under the control of the Turkish forces and the "protocol" was signed on July 14.

The Municipality of Deryneia condemns any actions taken by the Turkish Cypriot side to open part of the beach in the enclosed area of Famagusta near the occupied beach of Deryneia.

At a time when the frustration of the people for not reaching a solution is great, such actions increase the distance that separates us from a sustainable and functional solution to the Cyprus problem.

It is recalled that the Municipality of Deryneia, characterized this action as provocative, emphasizing that such actions only cause indignation, discomfort and frustration to the Cypriot people and do not contribute to the promotion of peaceful coexistence between the two communities.

"They did not put us in"

Under the headline "They did not let us in", Yeni Duzen on her front page yesterday complained that a journalist from the newspaper and a TV crew of Bayrak who tried to enter their beach were barred from entering.

Today, Yeni Duzen writes that after yesterday's front page, many citizens called the newspaper to tell them that they were not allowed to enter or that problems were created for those who were on the beach when they left. In today's single column, Yeni Duzen writes that due to the behavior of the people at the entrance of the beach - which is allowed only for people with Turkish or pseudo-state identity - there was tension yesterday and there were protests.

In yesterday's report, Fehime Alasia writes that they were waiting at the entrance of the beach when, following a relevant order from the "military authorities", they received the answer that journalists are not allowed to enter. The "mayor" of Famagusta, Ismail Arter, told the newspaper that he believes that if the journalists had informed in advance (that they would go for reporting) there would have been no problem at the entrance.
