Preparations for the municipal elections are intensive

The Election Service of the Ministry of Interior is now working intensively to complete the upcoming municipal and community elections in 2011, the cost of which will amount to 5,5 million euros, according to Election Chief Dimitris Dimitriou… As he stated in KYPE, The total number of registered voters is 546.111, of which 12.343 are nationals of other EU Member States. 533.778 are Cypriots.

Of course, he noted, out of this number of Cypriots, many will vote twice.

He said the community members were mostly Greeks and Britons. The Greeks number 4.382 and the British 4.639. Most community members live in the province of Paphos. Their number amounts to 6.006.

There are about 12.000 new voters.

The voters in the Municipality of Nicosia amount to 38.923, in Limassol 64.163, in Larnaca 34.924, in Paphos 17.746, Famagusta 31.031, Kyrenia 2.396 and Morphou 6.648.

The ballots for all the Municipalities - free and occupied - will be pink, white for the municipal councilors and blue for the school ephorates.

The color of the ballots for the communities has not been decided yet.
