"The parties have decided to go back to their own bodies and re-evaluate whether there is any additional room for further processes in the intermediate space effort," he said.

Asked whether there is a time horizon from now on for when the collective bodies of the parties should decide, Mr. Syllouris answered "no, on the contrary".

Speaking on behalf of EUROCO, Mr. Syllouris addressed a final appeal to all parties to consider his proposal for an open process of selecting the candidate for the interim space.

Answering a question, Mr. Syllouris confirmed that he himself said at the meeting that the European Party would accept the candidate who would end up with the co-decision procedure of the four, DIKO and EDEK. He added that his suggestion for an open election process was in case the process was agreed upon by DIKO and EDEK to a joint candidate did not bring results.
