Farmers submitted applications electronically

The majority of applications for the hectare subsidy plan for 2012 were submitted online, which is a great success for all the staff of the Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization who have achieved the impossible. 76% of 34.000 farmers sit in front of a computer and process their application…

It is estimated that approximately € 50 million will be paid in 2012 through the hectare subsidy scheme. Of course, the presence of the 8 officials of the Farmer Service Center, which operated without a break from 8 in the morning until 8 in the evening on weekdays, also contributed to this, to serve the citizens who were facing problems with the submission of the application.

Last year, the number of applications submitted electronically rose to 26% and what happened during this year is impressive. From 2013, all applications for the hectare subsidy scheme will be submitted only electronically.

Assistant Commissioner for Agricultural Payments Christos Mavrokordatos told "F" that he is completely satisfied with the application process. "For the first year, we have achieved a fantastic 76% electronic submission of a total of 34.000 applications submitted to the Agency," he said.

He added that due to the great interest in submitting applications online, there were some problems with magazines due to various reasons. As a result, the program is burdened by the congestion created in the last three days. In order to serve the public that wants to submit electronically, it was decided to accept applications
and the weekend without fines, since yesterday was the last day of submission. The small extension will continue until Monday morning when the offices of KOAP will open.

Referring to the advantages, he underlined that in the context of promoting the electronic submission, time and money are saved. He added that priority will be given to the payment of those who submitted electronically and on December 1 the amount will be paid by transfer. He also characterized as important the fact that it is possible to inform the farmer through the electronic system
regarding the processing stage of his application until the final payment.
