The achievement of cooperation between AKEL and the forces of the Center, DIKO and EDEK, in the Municipality of Limassol, currently remains an orphan. It seems that in most other cases of achieving tripartite cooperation, things are difficult because executives of DIKO and EDEK proceed to their own candidacies against AKEL candidates.
At the same time in the municipalities of Greater Nicosia there does not seem to be a willingness to support AKEL candidates.
This development seems to cause discomfort to Hezekiah Papaioannou, with the whole behavior of DIKO and EDEK. AKEL believes that the two forces in the interim space only want to collect the support of the Left party and get the votes of the AKELists.
In the Municipality of Strovolos, AKEL is examining the candidacy of its executive, whose selection will be estimated to heal intra-party wounds as well. DIKO appears negative in the support of AKEL candidate in Strovolos. Nikolas Papadopoulos, according to our information, seems to insist on the candidacy of Chr. Τσιγκη. AKEL, on the other hand, does not intend to support another DIKO member in the municipalities of Nicosia and indicates that it has already given its consent for the Municipality of Aglantzia. AKEL is also ready to support candidates of DIKO and EDEK in the Municipalities of Engomi and Agios Dometios.
There is a difference between the three in other municipalities as well: in Lakatamia AKEL has stated that it will claim the municipality with Fotoula Hatzipapa Koutsiou, who in the previous municipal elections had lost with only 20 votes, reminding that the party has a percentage that reaches 30% , while EDEK only 6%. There are also problems in Latsia, where the centrists do not seem to support the candidacy of Kyriakos Parpounas. Currently, the only AKEL candidate that DIKO-EDEK will support is Neophytos Papalazarou in Geri.
But also in the municipalities of the greater Limassol, problems seem to arise, mainly due to the creation of guerrillas by DIKO executives. In AKEL, with what has been recorded lately, they consider that there was no honesty from DIKO and EDEK.
