The Pancyprian Examinations started with Modern Greek (video)

We present you the issues and the solutions

The Pancyprian exams for 9.633 students started this morning with the course of Modern Greek, of which 6.415 are competing for the purpose of access to the universities and higher educational institutions of Cyprus and Greece…

The Minister of Education and Culture, George Demosthenous, visited in the morning the examination center at the Lyceum of Archbishop Makarios III, in Dasoupoli, where he talked to the senior students, urging them not to be anxious.

The bell rang at 8.15am for the candidates to enter the classrooms and a quarter of an hour later they were given the questions.

Mr. Demosthenous, after touring the school classrooms and wishing the students good luck, said that the children are cool and focused on their goal.

He added that the students have prepared and worked hard and added that they will give "the fight good", in a framework that allows them to compete with their classmates on equal terms.

He also called on them to stay calm and focused, in order to increase their degree of success, while adding that "life does not begin and does not end with any exam". Life, he continued, belongs to the children and the opportunities are many, while he wished "good luck in the exams and in their dreams".

As for the process of classification and access to universities and other higher education institutions, Mr. Demosthenous said that it is well organized and fair and is done in terms that can not be disputed.

Asked whether the Ministry is concerned about the preference shown by graduates for saturated professions, such as pedagogy, Mr. Demosthenous replied that the responsibility of the Ministry and the Counseling Service is to provide comprehensive information to students and advise them and their parents. . He added, however, that the choice ultimately belongs to them.

At the same time, he stated that the Ministry will continue and intensify the effort to provide information and advice, so that students and parents have in mind all the academic and professional data to make a decision.

The Head of the Examinations Service of the Ministry of Education, Terpsa Konstantinidou, stated for her part that no problems have occurred in the examinations and that her Service is fully prepared to face the challenge of this year's Pancyprian Examinations.

The subject of Modern Greek is clever

Referring to the topic of Modern Greek, in which students are competing today, she said that it is a remarkable exam essay, which presents a grade in terms of the degree of difficulty, since it is an entrance exam.

At the same time, she expressed her belief that even the weakest students will be able to write.

The Minister of Education was also accompanied by the Director of Secondary Education Zina Poulli.
