Iran could hit the bases in Cyprus

British Deputy Foreign Secretary Alistair Bert, testifying before a House of Lords special committee on Iran's nuclear program, warned that the country already had weapons that could hit British forces in Cyprus and Afghanistan, and is now seeking to acquire to hit Europe…

Iran, he added, already has the largest ballistic missile power in the Middle East with 200-300 medium-range missiles including the Shabab 3, which has been tested to hit targets at a range of 2000 kilometers.

British forces in Cyprus and Afghanistan fall within this distance along with Israel, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

Iran also aspires to expand the range of its missiles, which would allow it to hit European countries as well. The UK authorities, he concluded, are on alert for possible terrorist activity by Iranian agents against British targets.

He called on Tehran to end its nuclear program and prove that it did not want to acquire a nuclear bomb.
