Elections Greece: Elections June 25, caretaker prime minister Sarmas

The formal meeting under the President of the Republic of the political leaders of the parties that succeeded in entering Parliament in Sunday's elections ended shortly before 11:30 a.m. after the process of exploratory orders was fruitless. Acting prime minister will be assumed by the president of the Court of Audit, Ioannis Sarmas, who will go to the Presidential Palace at 1 pm in order to receive the mandate to form a caretaker government.

The announcement of the Presidency of the Republic

"The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou will receive today at 13:00 p.m. at the Presidential Palace the President of the Court of Auditors Ioannis Sharma, in order to assign him, in accordance with article 37 par. 3 sec. XNUMX of the Constitution, the formation of a government, with the widest possible acceptance, in order to conduct elections".

After the conclusion of the meeting from the Presidential Palace, Mr. Mitsotakis, Velopoulos and Tsipras, while Dimitris Koutsoubas and Nikos Androulakis followed behind them without any of the five making statements.
The meeting

To the right of the President of the Republic sat Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Nikos Androulakis and Kyriakos Velopoulos, while to her left were Alexis Tsipras and Dimitris Koutsoumbas. All political leaders exchanged handshakes both with each other and with Katerina Sakellaropoulou when she entered the meeting room for the last time.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Alexis Tsipras, Nikos Androulakis, Dimitris Koutsoumbas and Kyriakos Velopoulos met around the table with Katerina Sakellaropoulou to reach the solution of the caretaker government with the greatest possible acceptance, which will have the sole responsibility of holding the next elections on June 25.

It was preceded by the receipt and delivery of the investigative order, initially by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, on Monday, and then by Alexis Tsipras and Nikos Androulakis, on Tuesday, with a difference of a few hours.

The chairman of the Court of Auditors, Ioannis Sarmas, as the most senior supreme judge, is expected to be placed in the position of acting prime minister, with his swearing-in scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday.
