Greece: F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashes - Investigation underway for pilots

An alarm has been raised in the Air Force when an F-4 (two-seater) fighter aircraft of 338M/117PM that was performing a training flight crashed on Monday morning in the sea area 25 nautical miles south of Andravidas airport. The two-seater F-4 was accompanied by another Phantom.

A search and rescue operation by sea and air is currently underway south of Strofades in the Gulf of Cypress.

Information indicates that a signal to eject was given by the pilots.

The official announcement of the General Air Staff:

"On Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:30 a.m., an F-4 (two-seater) aircraft of 338M/117PM performing a training flight crashed in the sea area 25 nautical miles south of Andravidas airport."
