Georgia Bika: The European Court accepted her appeal in the rape case

The European Court of Human Rights admitted Georgia Bika's appeal on the rape case at first stage.

Now the case with the complaint of rape in Thessaloniki, according to thesstoday.gr, takes a new turn as the European Court proposes to Georgia Bika and the Greek government to proceed with a settlement in order to be compensated.

"Georgia Bika is not going to accept the settlement, because she wants the case to be brought to a public meeting, to support live exactly what happened, and then for the court to decide on the final amount of the compensation" the lawyer told ThessToday.gr of Georgia, Nikos Dialynas.

The criminologist notes that there is no question of accepting a higher or lower amount of compensation, but it is a question of justifying Georgia, and above all of ethics: "From here on, our next appointment will be at the European Court, and it is worth emphasizing that out of the 78.000 appeals , only 8% of them are accepted. Everyone can draw their own conclusions, not only about the elements contained in the appeal but also about the failure and omissions of the Greek authorities."

It is recalled that the 24-year-old appealed to the European Court of Justice after the decision of the prosecutor of the Supreme Court to put on file the application for the appeal against the Council of Misdemeanors of Thessaloniki, which exempted the 27-year-old from the charge of rape.
