The Greece-Turkey Joint Economic Committee is meeting after 11 years

After 11 years and 3 months, the Greece-Turkey Joint Economic Committee will meet in Athens, which will sign a cooperation protocol between Deputy Foreign Minister Costas Frangogiannis and Turkish Deputy Minister of Commerce, Mustafa Tourtzos, with the aim of cooperating in areas such as tourism. economy, culture, trade, transport, environment, health and telecommunications and the promotion of a "positive agenda" between the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, and the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, will deliver speeches. Turkish Minister Ersoy will also meet with Vassilis Kikilias and Culture Minister Lina Mendoni in Athens.

Then Ersoy will also visit today the house where Ataturk was born in Thessaloniki.

In 2000, the Greece-Turkey Joint Economic Committee was established. The committee, which has held four meetings in the last 4 years, last met in October 22. The acceleration of the "positive agenda" aimed at normalizing Greek-Turkish relations was decided during a visit by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu. in Athens last May. During the meetings between Deputy Foreign Ministers Frangoyannis and Sedat Onal, 2010 projects were identified through which there could be cooperation within the "positive agenda".
