Hoyer: The unemployment rate in Cyprus is still very high

The President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis received today the President of the European Investment Bank Werner Hoyer. After the meeting, Mr. Hoyer told reporters, among other things, that they discussed the latest developments in the EU and Cyprus with the President of the Republic, with whom he has frequent exchanges of views.

He added that "we are active in Cyprus more than ever, we have exceeded the target of 30 million euros, from 200 to 230. It was a very good year."

Asked to comment on the course of the Cypriot economy, he said that the unemployment rate is still very high, but noting that the state of the economy is recovering.

He added that "Cyprus has made tremendous progress and this is due to the determination and courage of the Cypriot people."

However, he said that there is still much to be done, noting that the European Investment Bank will continue to be in Cyprus and increase its activity.
