According to a police statement, "as part of the Police's efforts to prevent and reduce road accidents and to consolidate road awareness, members of the Traffic Headquarters, as well as the Provincial Traffic Branches, carried out a nationwide campaign for the use of mobile phones while driving" .
During the campaign, which began on October 26 and lasted until November 1, a total of 412 complaints were made about the crime, it added.
In Nicosia 189 complaints were made, in Limassol 86, in Larnaca 43, in Famagusta 19, in Paphos 40 and from the Headquarters for Road Accident Prevention Headquarters (OPOD) 35.
Also, between the dates of October 19-28, 2015, a nationwide Cypriot campaign was carried out to check uninsured drivers, during which 57 complaints arose.
