A Vietnamese businessman is the proud owner of the most valuable whiskey collection in the world. This is Mr. Viet Nguyen Din Tuan, whose collection is estimated to be worth 12,5 million euros, according to experts from Rare Whiskey 101.
The businessman and resident of Ho Chi Minh has 535 of the rarest, oldest and most valuable bottles of Scotch and Japanese whiskey, setting a record in the Guinness Book of Records.
The collection includes one of the only complete Macallan Fine and Rare collections, including the famous 1926 "Fine and Rare". It should be noted that only 40 1926 Macallan bottles have been released worldwide, with Viet having three. In fact, a 1926 Macallan whiskey was recently sold at auction for $ 1,9 million.
His whiskey collection also includes one of the 12 bottles of the oldest Bowmore ever released, with a similar bottle fetching 350.000 euros at auction recently.
Viet's love for whiskey is not recent. The Vietnamese businessman started collecting rare and vintage whiskey bottles 20 years ago and has now collected over 500, which are locked in a specially designed living room in his home. As he said: "For me, whiskey collection is the passion of my life. In my spare time, I search auction sites and shopping sites to find famous and rare whiskeys from around the world. As for my collection, I have no intention of selling any of them, not even a bottle, but I will continue to look to enrich it. "
