However, this year's change is accompanied by confusion, as the European Commission has proposed suspending the rotation between summer and winter time. Member States have until April 2019 to decide whether or not to adopt the Commission's proposal.

The president of the Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, in mid-September, presented his proposal for the abolition of the measure, which is expected to move the clocks one hour forward in March and one hour back in October.

In order for the measure to be implemented, the proposal must be approved by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU, and each Member State may decide on the matter separately.

Although there is the possibility of different options between Member States, the Commission's goal is to reach a joint decision on the measure.

Member States must make their choice no later than the end of April 2019. If the Commission's proposal is finally passed, then March 31, 2019 will be the last time there will be a change in the summer time.

Countries wishing to return permanently to winter time will then be able to change it one last time on October 27, 2019, as subsequent seasonal time changes will no longer be possible.

In a consultation by the Commission, 84% of citizens asked for the time change to be stopped, and it is worth noting that this was the first time that an electronic consultation had recorded such a large turnout at European level.
