The Greek aid mission for Turkey has left - The aim is to save lives

Greece's aid mission for Turkey departed from Elefsina airport with a C-130, following the powerful 7,8 Richter earthquake that occurred early today in Southeast Turkey and Syria.

The mission consists of a team of 21 firefighters from the 1st EMAK with two rescue dogs and a special rescue vehicle. Also, the team is accompanied by an officer-engineer of the Fire Brigade with expertise in supporting columns in the ruins of collapsed buildings, 5 doctors and rescuers from EKAV as well as the president of OASP, Efthymios Lekkas. The mission is expected to arrive shortly before 6,30pm at Incirlik Air Base, located outside Adana in southeastern Turkey, and then travel by road to a city in southeastern Turkey near the Syrian border.

The assistance of the country in every way in the efforts to deal with the consequences of the catastrophic earthquake with the aim of saving lives, was pointed out, among others, by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Christos Stylianidis in his post on social media, with the Turkish Embassy in Athens she replies, expressing her thanks for the response and messages of solidarity.

"The Greek mission ready for departure to provide aid to the earthquake victims of Turkey. We are assisting in every way in the efforts to deal with the consequences of the devastating earthquake with the aim of saving lives", says Mr. Stylianides in his post.

"We thank you for your immediate response and messages of solidarity to Turkey after the devastating earthquake that hit our country," the Turkish embassy in Athens points out in a post on social media.
