Apple is recommending owners of several iPhone, iPad and Mac models to urgently update their software, as it has discovered a security hole that could allow hackers to take full control of their devices.
The problem affects iPhone 6 and later models of that phone, all iPad Pro tablets, iPad 5th generation and later, and Mac computers running Monterey OS, explained on the emergency security update download pages that posted on Apple's website.
According to the company with the bitten apple logo, "an application can execute arbitrary code" and thereby give access to the machine to a hacker, allowing him to take control of it.
"Apple is aware that this feature may be actively exploited" by hackers at this time, the company added, without elaborating.
The security gap can be exploited by hackers exploiting "content on the Internet that contains malicious software," according to the Cupertino (California)-based company.
To prevent the risk, Apple recommends that owners of its products download and install iOS version 15.6.1 for iPhones, iPadOS version 15.6.1 for iPads, and macOS Monterey 12.5.1 for Mac computers.
The security hole was discovered, according to Apple, by an anonymous researcher.
The American technology giant places special emphasis on the protection of personal data and cyber security.
