At least 16 people have been killed and 40 others injured in a train crash in the Beheira area today.
According to Al Ahram, one train was a passenger train bound for Alexandria and the other a commercial train bound for Cairo. The clash took place in the Kum Hamada Abu Howi area and all medical services in the area were immediately mobilized, with 30 ambulances arriving at the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals, which were put on alert.
The competent Egyptian authorities have already launched an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.
