A journalist with a tattoo on his chin presents a report and writes a story

A New Zealand journalist, Oriini Kaipara, made history by becoming the first news presenter in the country to wear a traditional Maori tattoo on her chin.

According to the Daily Mail, the 37-year-old discovered that she was 100% Maori after a DNA test she did in 2017.

So in 2019 he decided to do the traditional tattoo, "moko kawae", as part of a process called "Ta moko" and involves permanent modifications to the body. It is something like an adulthood ritual and symbolizes transformation.

The journalist and mother of four wanted in this way to pay tribute to her ancestry and give strength to Maori women.

Presented the 18.00 bulletin at New Zealand Newshub Live last Monday

In a statement, Kaipara noted that presenting the news bulletin in the high-tech zone was a lifelong dream for her.

"I was really excited. I was flying in the clouds. It's a huge price. "I do not know how to respond to these feelings," he told CNN.

It is worth noting that the 37-year-old as a reporter over the years has gained her own loyal audience.
