An An, the world's oldest giant panda in human care, was euthanized today at the age of 35, equivalent to a human age of 105, his Hong Kong theme park said.
An An's health had shown steady signs of deterioration over the past few weeks, as the animal received less and less food until it stopped eating, according to Ocean Park, the mammal and marine animal facility where it has lived since 1999.
An An and Jia Jia, the largest female giant panda who died in 2016 at the age of 38, were donated by the Chinese government to Hong Kong.
"Ocean Park is deeply saddened to announce the loss of An An," the park's statement said.
