Erdogan: We will not allow Europe to become a concentration camp

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan focused on refugees / immigrants in his speeches today, shooting arrows at Greece on the one hand and at Europe on the other, arguing that the world's poorest countries are bearing all the burden.

Speaking at the 16th Conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: "According to the United Nations, there are 1000 high-income people 2,7 refugees, while in middle and low income countries there are 5,8 refugees. "The poorest countries host one-third of all the world's refugees."

The Turkish president spoke again about Islamophobia in Europe and described as "mentally ill" the anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant mentality.

"Instead of fighting these sick tendencies that are poisoning society, European politicians are adding fuel to the fire and clinging to rhetoric targeting Muslims and immigrants. We cannot allow a concentration camp for our brothers and sisters in Europe, home to 35 million Muslims of different backgrounds.

As an organization, we need to take more decisive steps to combat Islamophobia and hate speech. In this process, in addition to our fellow believers, we must take with us Jews who have experienced similar persecution, immigrants who have suffered xenophobia, and Christians who look at matters from the perspective of reason and conscience.

"We may have differences, we may have differences of opinion, but if the issue is the peace and tranquility of all humanity, it is our duty to expand these classes," he said, warning once again that "developments in Afghanistan are increasing "Turkey, which currently hosts about 5 million foreigners, of which 3,6 million are from Syria, can not carry a new immigration burden."
