Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called for a ceasefire, the opening of humanitarian corridors and the signing of a peace agreement during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to a statement from the Turkish presidency, Russia's attack on Ukraine was discussed and Turkey-Russia relations were assessed. Tayyip Erdogan stated that they are ready to contribute to the solution of the problem of Ukraine by peaceful means, as soon as possible.
He said an emergency general ceasefire would not only alleviate humanitarian concerns in the region, but would also provide opportunities for a political solution. The Turkish President reiterated his call "to pave the way for peace together".
The Turkish President said that he is in constant contact with the Ukrainian side and other countries and that he will continue his efforts to conduct comprehensive negotiations and achieve results.
