In a lengthy post, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram accounts would be blocked for at least two weeks.
Following the unprecedented atrocities during the invasion of the Capitol by Trump supporters, the head of Facebook condemns the practice of the outgoing American president and proceeded to block his accounts.
After all, Donald Trump liked to use social media and spread fake news, with social networks often banning his posts.
Mark Zuckerberg's post about Donald Trump
"The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly show that President Donald Trump intends to use the rest of his time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transfer of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden," Mark Marg wrote.
"His decision to use his account to forgive rather than condemn the actions of his supporters in the Capitol building has rightly upset people in the United States and around the world. We removed these statements yesterday because we felt that their effect - and possibly their intention - would be to provoke further violence. "After the certification of the election results by Congress, the priority for the whole country must now be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and days after the swearing-in will pass peacefully and in accordance with established democratic rules," he added.
"We believe that the risks of allowing the president to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. "Therefore, we are extending the block we have on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transfer of power is completed," said Mark Zuckerberg, among others.
