The parents of a 5-year-old girl killed her in cold blood, after an unknown man kidnapped her and raped her on November 18. The girl's body was found in rubbish in Manbij in northern Syria on January 27 and was taken to a nearby hospital.
The Arabian Peninsula's Human Rights Watch said several members of her family had been arrested, with her parents denying killing her as investigations continued.
The 5-year-old was abducted by a stranger, who was riding a motorcycle, while he had left home to meet her father in the olive groves.
It has not yet been confirmed when the murder took place. The Human Rights Observatory is demanding from the authorities all those involved in the trial, for one of the many "honor killings" that are taking place in the country. Last July, a girl was taken to an abandoned house and executed by her tribe, in another "honor killing" because she wanted to break up with her lover and not marry her cousin.
A video released shows 18-year-old Eida Al - Hamoudi Al - Saeedo being shot dead in a remote village in northeastern Syria. She was even taken to the abandoned house by her father and brother, as well as other men. They left her fasting, beating her for several days until she was executed. And all this because she wanted to live with her lover.
A few days later, another video showed a 16-year-old strangled by her father in another "honor killing" after being raped by a relative.
Following the escalation of "honor killings" against women alone, many women took to the streets to protest the killings in the name of "tradition and religion."
How much longer do we intend to tolerate not only what is happening next door, but also all the crimes that are committed every day around the world?
