Forbes: These are the most powerful women in the world (pics)

The 56-year-old US Vice President-elect makes her debut on the list of the 100 most powerful women in the world by "jumping" to third place. In January, when Joe Biden takes over as US president, Kamala Harris will become the country's first female vice president.

Only Angela Merkel and Christine Lagarde are taller than Harris. The German chancellor is the most powerful woman in the world, according to Forbes, for the tenth consecutive year, while the head of the ECB remained at No. 2, which was also last year.

The Forbes list includes women from 30 countries, representing four generations. Among them are 10 heads of state, 38 CEOs and five businessmen. Among them are leaders who have won praise for the way they managed the pandemic, such as New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who is at No. 32.

The top five, behind Merkel, Lagarde and Harris, are completed by Ursula von der Leyen and Melinda Gates, while at No. 7 is the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
