France: "It's too early to say whether the current pandemic has peaked"

French Health Minister Olivier Veran said today that it was too early to say whether the new wave of the pandemic in the country, which was triggered by the Omron variant of the coronavirus, has reached its peak, due to which record numbers of new cases are recorded daily.

"We need some more time to clarify whether or not we are approaching the peak of the current wave (of the pandemic)," Veran told France info radio station, adding that the most dangerous Delta variant is receding in France.

The French health authorities reported 368.149 new cases on Tuesday, the highest daily rate since the pandemic began.
