German air traffic controllers have fixed technical problems that were to disrupt traffic in European airspace today, the air traffic control company DFS announced.
"From 9 a.m., we will resume operations with 100% air traffic," said a DFS spokesman, whose inspectors are monitoring take-offs and landings at Germany's 15 international airports. It is too early to say how many flights were affected, the spokesman added.
German airline Lufthansa has said it expects flight delays and cancellations to destinations in Germany and Europe, especially at Frankfurt Airport, where it is the largest airline. He did not say how many flights might be affected.
The departure schedule on the Frankfurt Airport website indicated that approximately 20 flights had been canceled as of 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. local time. Earlier, the company that manages the busiest German airport in Frankfurt, had warned that the problems would affect flights across Europe. On its website, Fraport spoke of "technical difficulties" at the air traffic control center in Langen, near Frankfurt, without elaborating.
