Islamic Jihad Fires Rockets At Israel – Responds With Bombings

The Islamic Jihad group claimed responsibility for firing a total of six rockets into Israeli territory in the early hours of the morning. Four of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile system and the remaining two rockets landed in uninhabited areas, one in Israel and the other in the Gaza Strip. Sirens sounded in the small Israeli settlements on the border with Gaza, as well as in the coastal city of Ashkelon.

The Israeli Air Force retaliated by bombing an underground weapons manufacturing facility of the Hamas organization in the central Gaza Strip's Mazi location, as well as a rocket manufacturing plant in the northern part of Gaza, according to a statement from the Israeli Air Force. Hamas fired anti-aircraft fire, it announced. In the announcement of the Israeli armed forces, it is mentioned, among other things, that "the Hamas organization is responsible for what is happening in the Gaza Strip and it will pay the price when Israel's security is compromised."

The increase in tension on the Israel-Gaza front is a continuation of yesterday's Israeli military operation in the center of the city of Jenin in the northern part of the West Bank, during which nine Palestinians were killed, including three operatives of the Islamic Jihad organization, while clashes followed between the of the Israeli army and Palestinian protesters throughout the West Bank.

A 22-year-old Palestinian protester in the Al-Ram neighborhood north of Jerusalem was killed by Israeli fire in the afternoon hours yesterday, bringing the total death toll to ten. Yesterday was the bloodiest day in the West Bank since the beginning of 2023, as a result of which the Palestinian Authority announced that as of yesterday afternoon and until further notice, it is suspending the coordination mechanism between the Palestinian security forces and the Israeli forces with responsibility in the West Bank.
