Police in Los Angeles (California, southern USA) on Sunday managed to pull out the trapped pilot of a Cessna single-engine, which had made a forced landing on rails, seconds before the small aircraft was hit by an all-inclusive train.
The dramatic videos taken by passers-by and recorded by the police body cameras show their anxious attempt to get the man off the plane, which made an emergency landing shortly after taking off from the Pakoima area, according to local media. The police and the pilot were a short distance from the lines when the passing train fell rapidly on Chesna.
"The plane failed to take off and was forced to make an emergency landing, ending up in a busy intersection," said Lewis Jimenez, a 21-year-old composer who shot the video. "A few seconds before the train hit the plane, the police rescued the pilot," before "a piece of debris almost hit me."
The pilot, who received medical treatment for abrasions and bruises, is in stable condition, according to local media. No injuries were reported on the train.
The general police directorate of the big city praised the "heroism" and the "rapid action" of its men, who "saved the life" of the pilot.
