A lioness attacked a security guard yesterday, Sunday, and managed to escape with her partner from a zoo in central Iran, Iranian media reported today.
"The lioness, who was at the zoo for several years, managed to open a cage door, get out and then attack the 40-year-old guard who had just brought food to the feline pair," a zoo worker told the network. IRIB.
"The couple managed to escape," he added.
"Immediately after the incident, security forces took control of the zoo," which is located in Arak, 200 kilometers southwest of Tehran, said Amir Hunt, the governor of the province, whose statements were quoted by the official IRNA news agency.
"Attempts to capture the two lions alive were successful," he added.
