Landslides due to heavy rains in Quito cost the lives of at least 11 people yesterday Monday, the services of the Civil Protection in Ecuador informed, without specifying how many are injured.
An earlier report had suggested that six people had been killed and fifteen injured.
Torrents of water, rocks and mud flooded an avenue in the capital of Ecuador, sweeping away cars, flooding streets and houses, capturing images released by the Civil Protection.
The rains that hit Ecuador since October have caused serious problems, property damage and death in 22 of the country's 24 provinces. The death toll from the National Risk Management Agency said 18 dead and 24 injured.
