"Invasion of crazy white rats" killing each other in Italy

Authorities in northern Italy have set up a task force to deal with the problem

The inhabitants of the small village of Gatolino in Italy are faced with a strange phenomenon.

Lately there has been an "invasion" of rodents, which show very strange behavior.

The rodents have been called "crazy white rats", as, according to testimonies and videos, they jump in front of cars and kill each other.

A firefighter told a local newspaper: "I have never seen anything like this before."

According to the Guardian, the authorities of northern Italy have set up a special team to deal with the problem, with the participation of firefighters, police and health inspectors.

The rats appear to have "escaped" from an old dovecote, which closed last year.

"It is very likely that they ran out of food and went out into the countryside," said a local mayor.
