Munzir and Mustafa, a father and son who were mutilated by the bombs in Syria, are going to come to Italy, where they will be provided with all possible help by a specialized orthopedic center, near Bologna.
Munzir has lost his right leg, while little Mustafa, unfortunately, was amputated in the upper and lower extremities.
They were immortalized by the Turkish photographer Mehmet Aslan, and their photograph entitled "Hardship of Life" had traveled around the world, sensitizing countless people.
This solidarity initiative belongs to the Siena Photography Awards. The event managed to raise the necessary amount of money, with the help of thousands of internet users.
Their arrival is scheduled for Friday night, at Rome's Chabino Airport, in collaboration with the universal volunteer organization Caritas.
According to Luca Venturi, artistic director of the Siena International Photo Awards, "the power of this photograph, in which father and son find the strength to smile despite what has happened to them, has been transformed into practical and valuable support."
