$ 30 million "bell" to Apple because it was looking for the bags of its employees

Nearly $ 30 million will be paid by Apple to employees in its stores for the delay it caused them from the control it submitted to them during their shift or when they left.

It is an 8-year legal battle that ended on Friday when workers' lawyers asked a federal judge to approve the compromise offered by the company and the payment of compensation totaling $ 29,9 million.

Apple Store employees filed a class action lawsuit in 2013, alleging that the company was violating California law by not paying them for the time it took to inspect their bags.

Apple, for its part, argued that bag checks were necessary to establish that employees had not stolen devices, and argued in court that anyone who did not comply with company policy had the option not to bring a bag to work.

The lawsuit only affected employees at Apple's 52 stores in California, or 14.683 employees. Each will receive $ 1.286 from the settlement, their lawyers said.

Apple declined to comment on the settlement but said in court it stopped conducting those inspections in December 2015.
