A state of emergency in 10 provinces where the deadly earthquakes occurred, announced the President of Turkey.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a new statement at the State Intelligence Coordination Center said that "we are declaring 10 provinces where the earthquake occurred as disaster zones."
"We have decided to declare a state of emergency based on the power given to us under Article 119 of the Constitution in order to ensure that search and rescue activities and follow-up works can be carried out quickly," he added.
Mr. Erdogan added that "we will quickly complete the presidential and parliamentary procedures related to this decision, which will cover our 10 provinces where the earthquake occurred and last for three months," and called on citizens and the business world to donations to the accounts of the Presidency for Disaster and Emergency Management.
"The severity of the earthquake devastation and its effects make it imperative to take emergency measures. (The state of emergency) will cover our 10 earthquake-affected provinces and will last for three months," the President of Turkey pointed out.
