Di Carlo: Guterres reaffirmed his will to resolve the Cyprus issue

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' commitment to supporting a solution to the Cyprus conflict was reiterated by UN Deputy Secretary-General for Political and Peace Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, in a brief statement after her meeting with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulidis, at the Presidential Palace , which lasted an hour.

Ms. DiCarlo said she had an excellent meeting with Mr. Christodoulidis. "I congratulated him on his election and wished him every success during his term," he said.

"We discussed the Cyprus issue at length, and we want to reiterate the commitment of the Secretary General to support a solution to the Cyprus issue", he pointed out.

He said he would then meet with Mr Tatar "to further discuss the way forward".
