Ο Oscar-winning Canadian director Paul Haggis arrested in southern Italy after a woman complains of being sexually assaulted.

The 69-year-old has won the Oscar for Best Picture and Best Screenplay for "Crash", while he has also written the screenplay for another Oscar-winning film, "Million Dollar Baby".

He was placed under house arrest, according to information in either a hotel or a villa in the area.
