"I'm just sorry for the wrong things and sorry for the way this issue was handled."
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson today apologized in front of the British Parliament, promising to learn lessons, but refused to resign after the publication of a finding that blames "leadership mistakes" on the party scandal in Downing Street.
"I want to apologize," he said.
"I just apologize for the things we did wrong and sorry for the way this issue was handled," the conservative leader told lawmakers.
"I understand and I will fix it," he added, promising administrative changes to Downing Street.
He assured that his government remains "trustworthy", citing post-Brexit achievements, the success of the coronavirus vaccination campaign or even its response to the Ukrainian crisis.
"I want to say to the people of this country: I know what the issue is, is whether this government can be trusted to succeed and I answer yes you can trust us, yes, you can trust us that we will succeed."
