United Airlines canceled 168 flights on Friday and another 47 on Saturday, according to the FlightAware flight tracking website.
The company said it was trying to contact customers affected by the cancellations before they headed to the airport! "The global rise in Omicron cases this week has had a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operations," a United Airlines spokesman told The Post.
Delta Air Lines is also facing cancellations over the same two days. The airline today canceled 115 flights on Christmas Eve, accounting for 5% of the day's total travel, according to FlightAware.
On Christmas Day, Delta canceled 52 flights, or 2% of trips that day, the website said. The weather is also affecting cancellations, with winter storms affecting Seattle and Salt Lake City.
"Delta crews have exhausted all options and resources - including rerouting and replacing aircraft and crews to cover scheduled flights - before canceling about 90 flights on Friday," a spokesman told The Post.
"We apologize to our customers for the delay in their holiday travel plans. "Delta people are working hard to get them where they need to be as fast as possible and as safely as possible on the next available flight," he said.
