Putin: My grandfather cooked for Stalin and Lenin

The grandfather of Russian President Vladimir Putin worked as a cook in the service of Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin, as the head of the Russian state himself confirmed in a movie that was released on the Internet.

In the 2-hour documentary, entitled "Putin," the Russian president says that Spyridon Putin, his paternal grandfather, was a respected member of Stalin's staff.

"(He) worked as a cook for Lenin and later for Stalin, in one of the secondary residences in the Moscow region," Putin said in the film, which was owned by Reuters.

Journalist Andrei Kondrasov, who was interviewed and took over the presidency in January as a spokesman for the presidential campaign, explained that Spyridon Putin continued to cook for his country's rulers until shortly before his death in 1965, at the age of 86. .

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said the information contained in the documentary was accurate.
