In 1510 the Portuguese invaded the Indian state of Goa and conquered it. From then until 451 years, until 1961, Goa was a Portuguese colony. And the colonialists are tough people who treat the locals even harder.
This year, marking the 60th anniversary of Goa's independence from Portugal, some have decided to erect a half-ton gold statue of Ronaldo in a central part of the region.
On the one hand, however, the statue was erected and on the other, a crowd had gathered around holding black flags to protest. In fact, Goa is characterized as a "football fan" of India since everyone there loves football.
And while Science and Technology Minister Michael Lombo was presenting the statue, the crowd below with black flags disapproved. In fact, there were many who in a rage said that it would be better to honor a local footballer, such as Samir Naik or Bruno Coutinho, since many former and current members of the National Team of India are from Goa, rather than Ronaldo.
Activist Guru Shirodkar, who protested against the statue, said: "To erect a statue of a Portuguese footballer this year is sacrilege. We condemn it "
