Fuljense Kagishiema, one of the last four fugitives wanted for their role in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, has been arrested in South Africa, the United Nations announced Thursday.
"Yesterday afternoon, Fuljense Kagishiema, one of the world's most wanted genocide fugitives, was arrested in Paarl, South Africa in a joint operation," the UN's International Criminal Mechanism announced.
An estimated 500,000 to 800,000 people were killed during the genocide, the majority of them from the Tutsi tribe.
