An end to the announcement of cases in Spain?

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said today that it was probably time to start monitoring the pandemic in a different way as mortality from COVID-19 thus confirming an article in the newspaper El Pais according to which the government is considering alternative methods of monitoring.

"We have the conditions to start the dialogue gradually and with precautions at the technical and European level in order to start evaluating the development of this disease with different parameters from today," the prime minister said in an interview with Cadena SER radio station.

According to today's article in the newspaper El Pais, the Spanish government is considering changing the way it monitors the development of the pandemic using a method similar to that used to monitor the flu, ie without recording every case and without examining all those who show symptoms .

In the same interview, Sanchez also said that the government is considering ways to reduce the retail price of antigen tests (Rapid Covid-19 Test) after the shortages observed in many pharmacies in the country last month.

"The dialogue we had before and during the Christmas season was about the supply of tests, there was an obstacle. "Now we will talk about price control," he said.

The high price of antigen tests in Spain during the rise of the Omicron variant and the lack of tests in pharmacies have provoked protests from opposition politicians and consumer associations, many of which are demanding their sale in supermarkets.
