Film - challenge for the Macedonian issue with Skopje "crucified" on a map of Greece

Co-starring Ioanna Pilichou

Screening of Gianni Bozatzi's provocative film "Mocking of Christ" has started in Skopje, with which an attempt is made - through strong directorial symbolism - to accuse Greece of alleged "ethnic cleansing" of "Macedonets" in Greek Macedonia.

A film that is essentially an epitome of Skopje's redemptionism and the pseudo-"Macedonian" ideology, despite the efforts of the Tsipras-Zaef governments to advance the Prespa Agreement, ignoring them.

According to the script, Alexandros Filippopoulos is a famous journalist of a French political magazine, returning to his hometown in Northern Greece, searching for the truth about his father, Lazaros, who lived as a political refugee in Skopje after the Civil War. The work methodically presents the permanent Skopje argument against our country, for the annihilation of the non-existent "Macedonian" minority after the Second World War, but there are also strong reports against the Albanian community of Skopje presenting the action of the KLA against… "Macedonia".

The central hero is finally murdered, with a "crucifixion", on a sign under construction of a highway in Northern Greece, which according to the project "divides Macedonia in two". A scene that is essentially an offensive "blame" against our country.

It is worth noting that in the provocative film of Bozatsi, a cast of Greek actors also participates, while the co-star is Ioanna Pilichou. Scenes of the play were also shot in Greece (in Athens, Thessaloniki and Florina), while among the supporters - apart from the Ministry of Interior of Skopje, there is also the municipality of Athens according to the end titles.

The film was backed by the former government of Nikola Gruevski in Skopje. The current Prime Minister, Zoran Zaef, tried to put it on the "ice", in view of the Prespa Agreement with Greece, but failed to ban its screening in the country's cinemas. Bozaji accused the Skopje government of using "violence and terrorism" against him. However, the President of Skopje, Giorgi Ivanov, with whom the creator met, publicly stated his support for the provocative film against our country.

"Mocking of Christ" competed at the Montreal Film Festival and received a "Mention of Vanguard".
