Italy has been saddened by the news that an 11-year-old girl has died in Palermo, Sicily, of a coronavirus. The little girl suffered from a metabolic disease and was allegedly infected by her sixteen-year-old sister, who had returned from a short vacation in Spain.
The XNUMX-year-old was admitted to Di Cristina Hospital in Palermo, but the Delta variant of the virus - despite the efforts of doctors - created a series of serious problems in her already weakened body.
Initially, the governor of Sicily, Nelo Musumeci, had stated that "it is a family of vaccinators". Recently, however, the mother of the unfortunate girl stated that "her family is not against the vaccines, but she did not manage to make an appointment for vaccinations in time".
"The pandemic continues to reap, right now our whole city is on the side of this family, and it understands its enormous pain," said Palermo Mayor Leoluca Orlando.
